CONNECTED / DISCONNECTED, VERVERIJ RONSEannelys
Disarming Design part of ‘Connected/Disconnected’
EXHIBITION DE VERVERIJ, RONSE (B)
23 SEPTEMBER – 8 OCTOBER 2017
CC The Ververij in Ronse ran the ‘Connected / Disconnected’ exhibition, in continuation of the Textile Festival (with workshops, shows and a textile market) in The Ververij on 22, 23 and 24 September. ‘Connected / Disconnected’ refers to the connection of visual elements with each other and the space that surrounds them and its disconnection. It is also the way in which individuals behave in relation to each other, the community and the space. Connected or in isolation.
In politics, daily life and in art, we discover a form of “disconnection” and disorientation through globalization and far-reaching digitization. With the volatile network culture the need for more in-depth one-on-one contacts increases, and the imposed abstract design in our world causes a loss of connection with our tactile world and increases the interest in textiles and crafts, because we are communicating with a texture missing. Curator of this exhibition is H ART assistant Isabelle De Baets (art historian U-Gent).
Participating artists: Marie Julia Bollansée, Laura Caroen, Louise Delhaye, Leda De Voldere, Sanne De Wolf, Disarming Design From Palestine, Marijs Kempynck, Alioum Moussa, Joanna Reuse, Golnesa Rezahneshad & Maneuver, Maarten Vanden Eynde, Maneuver / Ada Van Hoorebeke, Maartje Fliervoet / Participants, Emma Van Roey.
