STORY

The avifauna of Palestine is unusually rich for so small an area. The English ornithologist Henry B. Tristram identified 348 species in an 1885 study (which denoted the geographical scope of 5,600 square miles (15,000 km2) covering a Palestinian area).
This Gaza-made traditional birdhouse is to serve the small birds, and it’s widely used in gardens and on terraces. The freedom of the birds is in shrill contrast with human live in the Gaza strip, for which a cage itself is often used as a metaphor.
This birdhouse is handmade by visually disabled people in the Open Studio of the Red Crescent Hospital.
